Perfect Egress assist (without damaging console cover), feels great for driving and shifting position. The strap keeps it in place around hand brake handle.

Is there a better custom pad available for Kappas?

That looks like it might be pretty comfortable, I like having something to rest my arm on that's a little higher than this console. I just bought a small soft cooler that might work for this as well, I haven't tried it yet. I did realize though with the cooler in place.. my cup holders may not be usable.
This is one thing I dont really see the need for, the only thing that bothers me about the driving position of the Sol is the left elbow sometimes hitting the window control buttons

Certain elements of this vehicle were compromises, the height of the tunnel and console cover and door arm rest height just being 2 things. The cushion definitely presents the right arm forearm into a much more ergonomic driving position. The verdict is not yet out on using the cushion for short trips, but so far every time I move it over to the seat my brain responds “ whyd you do that boye?…Put it back”

Sometimes two hands in the 10:00 3:00 position on the wheel. Sometimes resting on the console or just touching the shift knob.

Power steering takes care of the need for two handed driving most of the time!

I agree with Suitup, I drove my sol eight hours straight when I picked it up in Portland without any discomfort. You guys need to put on your big boy pants and man up. 🤣 Just kidding.

Nothing wrong with being comfortable when cruising!
People come in all shapes and sizes. Some finds the SolSky not comfortable and some do. So far I am fortunate enough to be comfortable with it in general. GM could've added some soft plastics on high touch point areas that would not just add comfort but also a degree of faux-luxury.

There's not much that's luxurious in a solstice. The seats are ok but definitely not plush. They do have plenty of leg room. Their built to go fast not to be a daily driver. They are fairly tame driving around town but with my sol lowered and the super stiff suspension I feel every bump in the road. The 8 hour drive from Portland to home was a ordeal that I don't want to repeat.

I'm ok with the comfort of it, the longest ride was last Friday night we went out for a three and a half hour drive, not bad but were really nice roads. I think the the biggest issue for me is boots, found out I do not want to repeat that scenario again..😏 It's a pretty tight area but yeah.. boots NO!
Yes, not having hands on the wheel when not operating some other control is a bad habit - perhaps a sloppy one that is more likely with owners who were used to power everything and figure they can turn the wheel with one hand (heck, with one finger on some of the old American barges) so why bother using two? But that isn't as safe as the proper way and they'd last about 10 minutes before failing out of a performance driving school.

The Solstice is a sports car with short wheelbase. That means one would experience a livelier tactile feedback compared to a boulevardier. I've not taken my car on longer journeys. 1hr drive tops. Ever since I stitched the steering wheel with pleather wrap, the feel of the wheel is infinitely better. Reminds me of the full bodied steering wheels in M-cars. Wish I have more hands to grab it. Ohhh yeah. :p

Have thought about Alcantara wrap too, but read they don't wear well.

I don't understand how you would damage the console lid area to get out of the Solstice. I never touch the console while getting out.

A Solstice is so much fun to drive, I enjoy having both hands on the steering wheel most of the time.

I believe that the major contribution to broken consoles is the method of entering the car head first, leaning on the console, then lifting the legs in one at a time.

Then the pad (if needed) would be for 'ingress' not 'egress'.

Regardless, I never touch the console getting in to or out of the car. I put my right hand on the steering wheel, set my butt in the seat, and then lift one leg in at a time. To get out, reverse process.

I have used that method, but I usually get in the way I have gotten into every sports car I have owned: Right hand on steering wheel, left on A-pillar, put right foot in, move in sideways to sit down, and pull the left leg in. I will occasionally put my hand on the brake lever if the situation is awkward, but usually not.

I wonder if the head-first method is learned from driving taller vehicles, as that is closer to the way I enter and exit my Equinox.
My method has served me well getting into Corvettes (real old, old and new), BMW Z3's and 4's and the Solstice.
