I went and looked at the 1957 Corvette tails as a starting place.
They are basically a chrome housing that is open to the outside with a red circular tail light vertically mounted against the front end of the housing.
If you removed the red lense cover for our Solstice tails and put a red cover over the light it would be a close representation of the same light.
Alternatively you could make a circular housing that would fit the existing tail light opening on the Sol and put an off the shelf round tail light inside the housing and it would be very close to the vintage Corvett tail.
On the 57,yes, there is basically a cut out behind the circular light. But on the 58, the red lens covers the whole thing, and is not so different from the rear of the Solstice (maybe even inspired it?). So I was thinking that it shouldn't be too difficult for some clever person to make a conversion.
