Mark you calendars! Saturday April 14th

The WCKCC district three (Central) one-day meet is just around the corner. We think we are going to have two one-day meets for the Central district three and a main weekend event this summer. I have been scoping out some various routes. Brainfreeze31 (the other Central district three rep.) has been doing the same in the northern part of Cental district three. One of the routes we are considering might be a little bit of a 2006 repeat. We are thinking about meeting in Santa Barbara, going up State St to the 154 past Lake Cachuma, down through Solvang, Buellton, Santa Rosa Rd and finally 15 miles of twisties along Jalama Rd to the beach. If you are heading noth on the way home I have a surprize for you. There is a great road full of twisties leaving Lompoc. (so much for the surprize).
What do you think?

We are working on a club brochure with district maps, WCKCC Business (Club) cards, a 2008 Sky Calendar.

I think I'm in, if I'm on this coast, that is! Hope to see you folks there!

A few pics

A portion of Jalama Road on the way to the beach. This is 15 miles of deserted back country driving with plenty of twisties and beautiful scenary. Eventually is opens up to panaramic views of the coast just above the secluded beach.
When Neil from Kappasphere finally wiped the smile off of his face he said, WOW, where did you find this road.
Ahhh, I love the smell of clutch, brake and rubber in the morning.

The next picture is Harris Grade Rd. outside of Lompoc, for those heading North, or for those that want to add 45 min. to their drive south.

Finally a basic map.

More details to follow.

I think we might meet at the Fess Parker Doubletree Hotel parking lot across from the beach in Santa Barbara. Our first leg will be up State St. to Hwy 154, past Cachuma Lake to Hwy 246. I am inserting a link from Map Quest from the hotel to the Chumash Casino. For those coming from the north that do not want to go all the way into Santa Barbara, we can rendezvous there.

I am not sure the Fess Parker Hotel parking lot will be the best place to meet. Anyone familiar with Santa Barbara, that has a better suggetion, please let us know. I would like it to be at/by the beach. There are a lot of parking lots there but they will probably be full. I am not sure how/if we can meet at the Chumash. They have huge parking structure but we will get lost in it. It would be great to meet by the Valet parking but they probably won't allow it. There is a PARK n' RIDE just after you turn off Hwy 154 on the Hwy 246. Yep, that would be better! On a Saturday it will be empty. Once we pass through Solvang we will stop at Green Pea Soup Andersons for lunch. After lunch we will continue on Hwy 246 over Hwy 101 to Santa Rosa Rd, (still Hwy 246 really) toward Lompoc. Instead of turning Rt into Lompoc when we hit Coast Hwy 1 we will take a left on Hwy 1 about 1 mile to Jalama Rd. We will take a Rt on Jalama Rd then Weeeeeeeee

Here is the link from Santa Ynez / Chumash Casino.

So far the drive is about 70 miles one way. On the way back home, even if you are heading south, I would encourage you to join us past Lompoc up Harris Grade to Los Alamos at Hwy 101. From there the people heading South can either continue down Hwy 101 or back track up either Hwy 154 or Hwy 246 to the Casino to test your luck. I will be heading up Hwy 101 home to Atascadero.

Here is the link to Los Alamos, (cool little town).

Once you get back the Hwy 1 from Jalama Rd it os only 20 miles to Los Alamos. From there about 40 minutes back to Santa Barbara taking Hwy 154 or 55 minutes taking Hwy 101 through Goleta.

Cool!
It will be great to see you again. This should be a lot of fun.
Are any GXPs coming to this meet?
I hope mine shows up at the dealers before then. I want time to break it in before I hit the twisties on Jalama Beach Rd.
Sal,

Sounds like a great day! And it would be nice seeing SOS again.
I am working on getting down to Santa Barbara for your meet on the 14th. Keep your fingers crossed. Any suggestions on where to stay Friday night?

Mike
Saturaday April 14th is just around the corner. I look forward to a fun relaxing, and at times exhilarating, ride. We have a good group signed up already but hope these numbers will grow as the meet nears. We have some surprise goodies for you when you get there.
I think we should plan on meeting right by the "Rectangular Rainbow Ach" at the corner of Cabrillo Blvd and Calle Puerta Vallarta at the Fess Parker Doubletree Inn.
We will be there at 10:30 AM

633 East Cabrillo Boulevard Santa Barbara, CA 93103 (805)-564-4333.

Directions to the DoubleTree Resort coming North
Take 101 North to Santa Barbara.
Exit the freeway on Cabrillo Blvd/Beach Area (this is a left exit!).
At the stop sign at the bottom of the offramp, turn left onto Cabrillo Blvd.
Travel on Cabrillo for approximately 1.5 miles.
Turn right onto Calle Puerto Vallarta.
The hotel entrance is the first driveway on the left. Come in the driveway, and head left, following the signs to the hotel lobby. Once you register, you can park closely to where your room is located.

Directions to the DoubleTree Resort coming South
Take 101 southbound to Santa Barbara.
Exit at Milpas St.
Turn right onto Milpas St.
After crossing the railroad tracks, turn right onto Calle Puerto Vallarta.
The hotel entrance is halfway down the block on the right. Come in the driveway, and head left, follow the signs to the hotel lobby. Once you register, you can park closely to where your room is located.

READ the other posts in this thread for the itinerary.

I look forward to seeing everybody.
I'm still going to be in Ridgecrest, so I won't be able to make it now. :(

Maybe next time. It sure sounds like a lot of fun on that run though, I really, REALLY hope I can make a meet soon! Wanna meet you guys!

That's great Sal. Glad to hear it. Just run down to Kappasphere and gravana tomorrow and have some mods put on. That should just about cover the break-in miles.:driving:

See the two of you Saturday. What color did you go with by the way?
