WCKCC is heading up to Sequoia National Park & Kings Canyon.

It's the perfect time of year--BEFORE Memorial Day, and the crowds!

    • Head off toward Cedar Grove through Kings Canyon
    • Stops in Crescent Meadow to visit Tharp's Log
    • Lunch in Cedar Grove
    • Back through Lake Hume
    • Drive down to General Sherman Tree
    • Moro Rock (if it's open)
    • 7:00 PM Dinner reservations at the Wuksachi Lodge
  • Sunday:
    • 8:45 Breakfast at Grant's Grove Cafe

This sounds fun.
I will talk to my better half.
She is graduating with her masters so we are going down to LA for the ceremony on the 22nd. On June 1st we are renting a motorhome for 11 days to check out Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons for the first time.
I am not sure she will want to add this trip to our already full schedule but I do. I might come up by myself for the day. It will be 4 1/2 hrs each way but it might be worth it if we get a good group.
Thanks for setting this up Vincent. I will try my best to make it.

Who's attending...

Well, so far, we have:
  • Crimson Avenger
  • Sal Orlando (trying to convince wife)
  • thatbob2
  • Le Chief (trying to clear his schedule)
  • GXP Bruce

The weather will be absolutely wonderful:As of this writing, we're expecting mid to upper 70's on both Saturday and Sunday.

They just opened up the Caverns for tours on the 9th, so we'll be there before the crowds hit. Should be a pleasant trip.

I was planning on coming solo.
I received a call from a clinet who is coming in from out of town and wants to see some properties.
Sorry, but I have to miss this one.

This looks like fun, I live in Palmdale when is your next event?
For whatever reason, this event was not at all popular with the membership. I will be going next year at the same time, WCKCC sanctioned or not. There was still snow up there when we went so I wouldn't try to make the trip too much earlier.

If it doesn't make it on the WCKCC calendar for 2010 and you want to go just PM me. I loved the trip. I could have made it a 3 day trip as we missed so much. It's really pretty up there, especially if you like to hike.

Do you know when is the next event? I sure like to drive with the bunch, it look like fun.
Keep checking the Pacific sub-forum from time to time:

The WCKCC has the best meets! Especially because they have the prettiest states in the Continental US.

I plan on being there the same weekend next year, WCKCC sanctioned or not. If you like the outdoors and hiking, plan on a three day trip. You won't be sorry.

It's beautiful up there but there was still snow on the ground in the middle of May.
