Light Motor vehicle Automotive tire Gas Auto part

One day old and nothing more than parked outside and the included hardware is rusting. No rain, or even wet roads.

Some places can't bother spending the extra 50 cents to include copper hardware

Just from that pic you may want to check your exhaust manifold where it merges right before the cat, it may be a trick from the angle but that suspiciously looks like a crack in it right above the o2 sensor near where white oxidization has occured.

Well aware of that but thanks. It doesn't leak, just cracked so I've let it be. Even when I had the cat off to install the new cat, I looked inside and didn't see a crack, but the soot could have been hiding it. Been eye'ing the Clear Image header for its replacement, but worried about dealing with a broken bolt.

This has been on my mind lately Mark. What purpose does the underhood clear plastic film serve? Mine are getting old and building up dirt where they have separated from the paint. They are not attractive and i have been wondering about removing them....

there were none on my 06 when i got it back in 18,trunk lid looked perfect. the only thing I can think of is gm was thinking they would protect the trunk but did not know if they were needed at all.. but cheeper to put them on than have cars come back for paint& then add the stickers.. whoo knows.

Along those lines when i got to work this morning i popped the hood and was thinking about your post. The engine bay had warmed them and they peeled right off.
Need to get some adhesive remover to finish cleaning it but it looks better already :)

almost had to jump-start my 08 convertible battery today.

Font Parallel Rectangle Pattern Line art

Went with a trickle charge for 3 hours instead. The car started up, then I drove it for 30 miles.

Snapped this today. The weinermobile was leaving and I was barely able to even get this.

Local grocery store closed 2 stores for 1 bigger one and I guess the weinermobile came, I was driving by and saw it and turned around just to take the pic.

Guys,

I'm feeling a little stupid on this one.

Where is the material under the hood you are talking about.? A photo would be great.

I dealt with the aged and cracked buttress "protectors" last year. Learned how good plastic razor blades work. Someone on the forum had posted about that. Warm sun, gentle and persistent scraping away at the stuff over several days and cleaning the adhesive that stayed finally made them go away. Now looks like the film was never there.

I appreciate a clue on the underhood stuff. Thank you.

Already took mine off but essentially if you open the hood and are standing on the drivers side and look at the inside edge of the hood just above and along the outside edge of the the headlight you should see some clear-bra type plastic.
This is the same but opposite on the passenger side.
Mine had begun delaminating from the hood paint in sections and was capturing dirt behind where it had sagged.

it's where the fender liner wood rub on the hood and we usualy put the foam door type seal there, gm calls this a seal...its more of a protector so the liner dnut eat the paint off the hood., my 06 did not have them, my coupe....hell I didnt keep the dent& bent hood so I dont know. I think somebody layed claim to getting gm to put them on the cars. Im sure either KG or john will know whoo I need to find the aluminum backed seal for mine,I put some on my 06 but not on my 07 or 09 yet. the aluminum seems to be hard to find( Aluminum ushaped pincher staple kinda thingys to hold it on, most are steel and rust, there are also Stainless Steel ones but that aint needed and probably 5x as much$)
