My first car was a 1959 XK-150S Jaguar. Bought it because I couldn't aford a TR-3 then found out why it cost less. Still have whitworth wrenches.

Got cured of Jaguars after nine of them. still have trouble keeping eyes off the oil pressure guage. However a lasting effect is that think the perfect street engine is a 6 cyl between 2.8 and 3.8 liters. Have several.

No idea how many cars were in the middle but most were autocrossable. Did have a gaggle of Corvettes for SCCA racing. Was working at GM and cheapest car I could race. Were always fuel injected just mechanical them.

For the last few decades my cars have all been GM & were all Pontiacs until the Reatta, wanted a bigger Fiero and Pontiac did not make one.

Just for S&G the Chevvy 6 cyl in 68-69 was a 250 up from 230 in 67. 215 "Blue Flame 6" was some earlier.. Was a real dog with the 1 bbl Monojet.

OTOH the same basic engine with a few mods was the basis of the OHC 6 from Pontiac. In Sprint form with a QJ the 66-67 version redlined at 6500 rpm. Getting the sliding oil pump to seal properly to the block was a bear though.

And then there was the SOHC 421 in Mac's GP.

First car was a $50 1960 Chevy Biscayne, 6cyl 3-speed

Moved up to a $150 1960 Chevy Impala hardtop shortly after the Biscayne. Had a 283 4-bbl, 3-speed w/floor shift and dual exhaust.

Then there were the 39 cars that followed over the last 35 years. Ironically, I've never owned a "sports car." Closest I came was a 1970 Camaro Z28. My brother had a 1968 Triumph TR250 (in '68) that was a blast to drive and I've had a desire to own a 2-seat roadster ever since. Maybe the Solstice will be that car! :D

Bahahaha!

If you haven't seen this, have a look (under "I'm Tim! I drive an Aries!")

http://imperial.point2this.com/nybml/FunStuff/

"Bench Seats! STANDARD!..."

I'm not laughing at you Bizz (if you saw my first car, you would be laughing at me). I just saw the Aries, and rembered this clip...

I also remembered (had a flashback? PTSS?) I had a 1981 Pontiac Acadia. Bought it from a guy in Canada, and imported it. Drove like crap. Flintsones floorboard (like almost all of those body styles).

re Flintstones Floorboard

While living in Indiana I bought a 67 Cad Eldorado for $500. Once the QJ leaks were fixed it drove just fine & looked good. Wasn't untill I'd had it for a while that it was up on a lift & found one floorboard read "No Parking" and the other "Speed Limit 25".

Beat up 1969 El Camino SS. Ugly but very fast. You had to weight down the back end with bags of sand to get any traction! :lol

Showing my age!

My first car (back in jolly old England) was a 1934 BSA three-wheeler. It had a ten horse Daimler engine and was a joy. Got me hooked on 3-wheelers. Also had a 1924 Morgan 3-threewheeler. Then a Ford ten of some vintage (possibly 1939) then a really beautiful 1949 Triumph Roadster, the one with the rumble seat. Gorgeous! Wish I still had it. Over here, in the States, I've had everything from a Nash Metropolitan on up, including a couple of T-birds. Currently have a 2003 Tiburon GT6, a Fiberfab Avenger (GT40 clone) and a GMC Sonoma.
