Buying an '07 GXP roadster for the wife. Car is in pristine condition, garage kept, and only 29,100 original miles. It's a fully loaded GXP from what I can tell (leather, et. al). Book says $16,500ish for clean retail, $13,500ish for trade-in value. White with black top and interior.

Thanks.

Well in my opinion the NADA will show a higher retail value because that's what Dealers use. (X dealer myself)
So I would say closer to the 16. I paid about 18k last march for a 08 GXP with 16k from carmax (ie warrantied etc.) loaded minus the 6 cd (got the single with monsoon)

Here in the 'D', these cars tend to command $2000 more then what KBB is suggesting. I would guess a '07 should be good at $15k-$16k. '08 are about $16.5k-$18k here with 50k on them. And we won't even talk about '09!

Make sure the car has a/c if you are in a hot climate!

As others have said, it depends. If its a private sale vrs a dealer. Where you are located can have a large impact.

If its a private sale, then negotiate the best price the seller is willing to accept and if its within the range, you are good to go.

Houston, TX area. I think it's a crime to sell cars without A/C around here. Yes, it does have A/C.

Private seller. Shook hands at $14,500. Picking it up tomorrow.

From what I've read, I would think the '06 and '07 models would be more desirable because they supposedly changed the internal engine components to weaker rods and pistons. Did I read that correctly? Wife won't let me modify it, of course, but it's tempting considering I modified my 2008 Z06 Corvette to around 650HP. I am going to have a difficult time staying out of the tune.

Unfortunately I am 6' 4" with a size 15 shoe, so I was not even able to drive it. It's all hers. My knees are in the dash and there's not enough room in the foot well for my feet.

The Turbo cars had the same internals for all years. The NA 2.4 did go through some changes and supposedly the rods were a little less robust in the later model years.

Oh, God, no. I am in the process of a $15,000 build up on my Corvette, going all forged internals, freshening up the entire driveline, and adding carbon fiber aerodynamics (like the ZR1). I am completely mod money broke at the moment. This is the wife's hot rod and I seriously doubt she'd let me touch it. In fact, the Corvette scares her now, so she had to get something a bit more tame to satisfy her desire to row through gears.

But I do have a friend with a Grand Prix GXP and he has the HP Tuner software for it, so it wouldn't take much to bump it to over 300HP.

First picture in her new home (crappy iPhone camera - I'll get some better pics with the Nikon at some point):

Here's how my Vette sits as of today. Something's missing:

Oh, here is is. Maybe I should put this in the Solstice? Think the wife would notice?

Do NOT drive the wife's car. I did that and now we have TWO of them.

I hear you about freshening up the power train.

I just paid 17 for my 08 GXP 3 days ago. car is super clean and 34 k miles. drove it home from Dallas to houston and it was over 100 outside and I never turned the air past 1. it even got cold toward the end and I could have cranked up the t-stat. tinted windows and that lid lining made a huge difference. I don't have that in the 06. I like the white. my 79 TA was white.
