Most of the motorcycle forums I visit have a Travel/Trip subforum where folks can post interesting roads and rides they have been on. I do wonder why this forum does not have one. I've seen enough discussions about carrying luggage that I assume members drive their cars, but is this forum more for those who mod their cars than drive them? Does anyone know if one of the other Solstice forums have a Travel/Trip section?

I don't know of any of our forums having trip information. My GXP has been to six nationals,Denver,Ohio, Asheville, Austin, and Flagstaff. Plus to Florida, Wisconsin and Canada. We also do most the MKC runs which are about every other week in the nice weather. Love my Kappa and looking forward to many more trips.

Mine ( NA & GXP)
In two more trips I will have completed that map on motorcycles. It would be nice if there was a subforum for trips and travel routes. Then they would be in one location so I wouldn't have to get through all the 'which oil', and 'which muffler' threads to read the interesting travel stories.

I guess maybe it is too late for that kind of sub-forum. What you all think?

Are there really Kappa specific roads? If a route is fun with another vehicle, except for off-road, wouldn't it be as good as or better with a Solstice? The general forum seems to work for me so far.

As far as Solstice trips are concerned, I'm always fixated on the next Grand-Am 6-Hours at Watkins Glen race and then rounding out the extended weekend with a full tour of the Finger Lakes Wine Trail.

The most awesome thing about Solstice touring is that Wifey can't buy anything because it can't be carted home!

What about an organized Solstice Forum Watkins Glen trip for 2014?

Maybe not Kappa specific, but more fun in a Kappa than a minivan. Great scenery, beautiful curves and elevation changes, shaded for summer driving, smooth pavement, etc. Pretty much the same roads that sport bikers enjoy.

I would rather see photos of where people have driven their solstices than pics of their mods, but that's just me. I'd rather spend my money on fuel and hotels and don't like the temptation that comes with all the cool mods that are available for the solstice.

I was wondering if there were others with the same interests in posting and reading travel threads.

Big Sur was the furthest. That's just up the coast on HWY 1. Honestly, I've had too many people NOT see me and pull into my lane, back up on me at stop lights, turn in front of me...etc. etc. to want to drive this car for any long trips. And the trunk thing....not so good. It's a very local car. But I have some very nice roads to drive on soooooo eh.

How about posting some pics. California, Oregon, and Washington are still on my bucket list.

Drove from OC to Humboldt county in October...then drove back to OC via PCH from Carmel. Gr8 idea but wrong timing as it was Sunday afternoon and PCH was loaded with "Sunday drivers"!

It was about 1,300 miles R/T and my 1st long drive in the Solstice since buying it in January. It was way better than I expected.

2wa, No pics but I recommend staying over night in Santa Barbara. While in S.B., take a ride up San Marcos Pass (Route 154) all the way to Solvang (hurda burda furda town) for lunch. Lake Cachuma has some nice hiking trails (ran into President Reagan at the lake, he loved fishing).

Living in Colorado, and being in a club with ~50 cars, we have been on many cool roads here. We also have done the Needles highway in South Dakota, many great roads in New Mexico, Texas and Utah.

Two years ago we took the wife's Sky to the Oregon coast. We did 101 from Washington through half of Oregon. Lots of fun roads there but the traffic sucks.

Sadly after doing local roads like Deer Creek canyon, Rocky Mountain National Park and the roads around Moab, most other roads tend to lose their luster. They just can't match the 4000 foot elevation changes and miles of curvey roads with awsome views.
