Wilmington Plant Update 9/25/05 (PICS)

Folks,

Came to DE for the Monster Mile NASCAR race this weekend. Stopped by plant.

Shot some pics (to download tomorrow, as I'm on dialup now).

There are so many Soltices sitting in all the lots. More than I've seen before! Why they aren't shipping is beyond me. On Saturday, it looked like plant folks were testing the cars (braking, noise, vibration, etc.). Also, it looked like plant folks were going to random cars on the lot and checking them out.

There were also cars in the adjacent lot near the rail cars. Also, there were about 6 car carriers in the lot (some had Chryslers on them and others had Mazda 3's on them).

Will get photos for you tomorrow.

Don't worry, I'm expecting you to have yours for the first West Coast meeting in November. ;)

It's just a matter of time.... Now, where did I put that nuclear weapon?

Wilmington Plant Pics

Here you go...

Everywhere I shot, there were more and more cars. I've visited the plant many times during the production and there are at least 1,000 cars parked.

Shots of the red car show that they were testing on SATURDAY.

Wow, that's a lot of cars. I sure hope one of them is mine. (Please, please, please be mine!)

If I can believe my dealer :skep: my car had a TPW of last week, so it may have gotten built.

I'm reserving judgement on whether I really got to the TPW stage until I can get confirmation from Cricket, as my dealer does not seem to be real interested in keeping track of my order. I suspect that they may be telling me what I want to hear so I stop bugging them. Time will tell, I guess.

Solstice Solstice everywhere!

Thank you for the pictures. Boy there sure are a lot parked in the lot! :)

What’s odd is I don’t see the GM chicklet on any of the cars in the pictures; isn’t the badge affixed on the assembly line? Maybe they just are not visible in these pictures…

That is the case with me too. Criket told me that mine was ready to ship(#4000) and my dealer does not even see that on his system, which i feel he is lying. Co-incidentally my dealer is in NJ too. These dealers are a bad name to us New Jerseyans.

GM Chicklet....I zoomed in on my original pics and it is there on most of them. I can't find it on EVERYONE, but maybe I just can't see them.

Remember, the pre-production models had the chicklet on the front fendor...the production models have it on the lower part of the door.

Am I correct?

let me know.

Just the opposite ... pre-production cars had the chicklet on the door and production models have it on the fender. So that red car could have it on the fender right behind the inconveniently placed pole.

Note that some of the pre-production cars have been brought up to production standards for use as dealer show cars and the chicklet was moved to the fender, which may cause some confusion.

This pic clearly shows the red test car w/o the chicklet. Wonder if they ran out of them? My LaCrosse rental had two of them on it too. Then the G6 I had last week had them...My bet is that they ran out.

:)

Chicklet is blocked by the fence upright. It's clearly visible on my monitor in other view.
