I stopped by a friends house on my way home. After I left, it was only a minute later. I was doing the speed limit which was 50mph along a rural back road. As I approach an intersection, a white van stops at the stop sign on my right and then pulls out in front of me. I had no stop sign, and I had the right of way. I watched the driver the entire time as she never even looked in my direction. I slammed on the brakes and swerved left laying on the horn hoping she would look and stop but my front passenger corner connected with her front driver side corner at which point we went slightly off the road stopping when she hit a fence post. After making sure my 5 year old daughter was ok, I proceeded to tear the dumb [email protected]$h a new one. Thankfully a trauma nurse happened to witness the whole thing was able to help until the paramedics and authorities arrived. My daughter has a bruise on her cheek from hitting the door and a small bump on her forehead from the dash. My left wrist is sprained to hell from jamming into the steering wheel and my right calf is sprained from standing on the brakes. Thankfully no major injuries, and none for the idiot driving the van. They were able to rip the front bumper off and drive away while our solstice didn't fair so well.

To make matters worse, the driver that hit me had an invalid license and no insurance. If the car is totaled I at least have gap coverage so I wont owe anything on the remainder of the loan. If it's fixable I have to pay the dang deductible. What also scares me is the horror stories I see on here about how these cars are never the same after being repaired following an accident. I plan on being present when the car is inspected by the insurance company, is there anything I should know or point out during the inspection?
