WTB cheap Boomerang.

Hey guys I'm looking for a boomerang to mod. I'm either going to wrap it in Alcântara or leather or fix, sand, and have it hydro dipped. So if anyone has a damaged (scratched, scuffed, cracked, chipped) boomerang they want to sell I'm interested. If it's cheap and in such a condition that's fixable I'm interested. Thanks!

I have one that has a broken tab for the metal fastening clip in the shifter area.
I'll take and post pictures this afternoon after work.

Incidently I have one at Michigan Hydrographics right now for a carbon fiber dip

I'm interested Jon especially if you can part with it for a small sum of money 😁

Here’s the pictures.

Broken/missing tab.

I forgot about this.
Broken boss for threads…piece is under yellow tape.

Thanks Jon. Tell me how much you'd want for it, or I can shoot you a PM if you prefer.

Let me know how you like it. I also want to dip a boomerang I picked up. I would think the tricky part is making sure the pattern stays leveled, but the boomerang is a big part to dip. I'm looking at some engine turned type film for a little Firebird/Trans Am flavor.

BTW, did you have to bring the film in, or did they order if for you? There's a couple places closer to me than Ypsilanti, but if you're turns out I'd consider driving there.

How does $20 sound?
I can bring it to NASSAM.

When I get it I'll put up some pictures.
MIchigan Hydrographics Michigan HydroGraphics Company supplies everything, and can paint any basecoat color you want.

James (the owner) was very friendly, and told me I could take as many pictures as I wanted to.
In my Garage Journal thread My 16 x 24 in Michigan ... Post 2872 there are several pictures of parts that were hydrodipped, including a Solstice Boomerang that was done as a sample display piece of their work.

I read the referenced post, but didn't see what method you ended up using to remove the paint on the boomerang? My boomerang also has a missing connection tab at the bottom of the shifter, but I'm hoping it has enough of them to keep if flush. BTW, your Sol trailer is looking good.

I've read people suggest x or y product for paint removal on the boomerang. Wouldn't sanding also be a way to do it?

Do this on a warm, 70 degree + day.
Spray on a thick coat of Easy Off oven cleaner, let it sit on the boomerang for maybe 30 minutes.
Scrub it real good with a stiff bristled brush, then thoroughly rinse with a water hose.
I did this 3 times.

My 1st attempt failed for multiple reasons, cold day, didn't leave on for long, didn't scrub, and possibly an old no longer potent can of Easy OFF.

Thanks on the trailer.
It's a 10 footer, like my Solstice, but I'm happy (mostly) with it.

You could sand it, but I was concerned that if I sanded it, I would gouge it.
James the hydrographics guy said he could strip off the paint, but he would charge for doing that.
I didn't ask him the cost of that cause my paint was already removed.

Easy Off (actually Walmart brand) worked fine for me. Just do it outside! It may have taken a couple of applications and rinses, but I didn't need to scrub it much. I would NOT sand it. The top is a textured finish, so sanding won't get into the grooves (unless you sand the whole area flat!). Also the paint is kinda soft and would gum up the sandpaper very quickly.
