For the first so many months I loved all the compliments, random people always asking about the car, even strangers asking can they sit in it while at the gas station (ok that only happened once).... But now, its getting irritating. I can even finish a whole song before i have to stop at a light and get interrupted by someones question or compliment. Tired of getting out the car and answering questions before I make it in the store. Now all this dont happen all the time of course but it does happen enough. Dont get me wrong, I still like to hear everything to an extent, and Im not an a-hole, so I would hate to start ignoring people and keep listening to my music and such.

It's like being a celebrity. Sometimes I love the attention. Sometimes I'm busy trying to get somewhere. But I try to be very respectful and give people a chance to ask me about my Sol and answer their questions the best I can. Yesterday, on my way home from working out, I've got the radio blaring, there's traffic all around at a stoplight, and a guy yells out his window, "How do you like it?" I told him, "Great!" He wants to know how much he can get one for and the power. As I leave, he yells, "You look hot in yours! I'm going to get one!" What an ego boost! :D

I've only gotten a handful. I live in SoCal, people are jaded out here.

I live in a town where ther are more than fair share of Sols. I can't believe the number of Sols in this town. There are at least 8 or 9. People don't break there necks like they used to but, trust me, they still look. When I get on the highway I get more compliments than when I'm in town. Short answer is I never get tired of the compliments.

I don't get that many when driving. Lots of stares but no comments. Must be the metal on the stereo that makes me seem antisocial. Gas stations are different, and I don't mind the comments. Of course I don't drive around Chicago that much anymore, mostly stick to the outlying suburbs.

I look at it this way. It's kinda like being married to a movie star except for one differance. With a movie star, most people would stare and lust without saying a thing. This way they want to express their pleasure about your Sol.... And you don't have to worry about your Sol leaving you. I can handle that. If you don't want the compliments and envy, don't buy the car. I went a few days last week without a single recognition, I washed and polished it and was cruisin' down I-17 when a nice lady pulled along side me, waited for me to glance over then gave me the big thumbs up....Life is Good!!! Enjoy your Sols! :dthumbs: :driving:

Not me. I am still loving it. Only had my Sol for a month but getting a kick out of all the questions and compliments. My last few cars. Taurus (company car), Grand Prix (company car), Mustang (company car), Honda Accord, Ford Ranger, Saturn, Ford Escort, etc.

By looking at the list of my past cars. You can see why I am enjoying this one so much!

I get my fair amount of stares thats for sure but yet I don't really get compliments anymore.

Not tired of them, yet! Getting more since the MagnaFlow & etched illuminated windscreen install. I love to show off my Dejon CAI & IC pipes. But then, I'm one of those "jaded SoCal people". It even gets up-front parking when I valet!

The comments have changed from "That's a Pontiac?!!!" to "What IS that?!!!" after I debadged the rear. Depending on the circumstance, I don't always tell the truth at first. Yeah, I'm jaded.

You know when I visit Phoenix, AZ I get a lot more looks and compliments there than out here.

Most recent compliment was in front of a restaurant in Palm Springs (of course top down). I was lucky enough to get a spot right in front of the outdoor seating. Driving up and getting out I could tell people on the patio were looking. Then I got a seat on the patio to have lunch. It's fun to watch people walk around the car looking or walk by saying, "Oh that's the Solstice".

Sometimes the best compliments are just watching people admire it.

What a good feeling it is to watch people see YOU get into the car they were just admiring.

Another view . . .

I see this alot when my wife and I ride our Harleys together - a lot of attention and "that look". (Our GXP is on order . . .)
Once we were at a stoplight on a classic, warm, sunny, summer morning and a guy in a beautiful corvette with an even more beautiful girl next to him pulled up next to us. He couldn't take his eyes off us and just smiled and gave us a thumbs up as we rode off.
I discussed it with my wife later and, as usual, she nailed it - she said "Don't you get it? At that particular moment in time, he wished he was you.".
And, I believe she was right.

I get "the look" a lot at gas stations from young fathers with a minivan full of family. Sometimes I'll say "wanna trade the van and the kids for the bike?" They always laugh.

Okay... I'm going to go the opposite from what most of you are posting..... The only thing that does bother me is the TRUCKERS on the highway. They blazingly pull right next to me and hold up traffic behind them to stay next to me...it really does irk me sometimes.

Other than that recently since the weather has been nicer and I'm spending time at the car wash I get a lot of people coming over to look at it. I also have a guy at work who comes over and tells me that he parked next to my beauty so it's protected...

Get a louder exhaust and pretend you can't hear them...I used to have a Ferrari 308 in a town that NEVER seen such a vehicle (except for on Magnum P.I.) Every punk with a fartcan wanted to race, gas stations were a nightmare and I never wanted to leave it in a store parking lot because there was always at least four people standing around it with who knows what intentions when I got back. I just got my Sol a month ago and its still winter here. All of last summer I only saw one mysterious prowling the neighborhood (nice looking girl) Can't wait until Spring so we can exchange notes on the cars, and maybe a few other things. :)

When I got my first Solstice (Oct 05) it was really a rare vehicle. I went to a carwash and while I was washing it, 2 guys from the used car lot next to the carwash walked over and asked me how I got it. They were really impressed that I got it for MSRP (after waiting 9 months for it). I get lots of looks and compliments on my GXP, but there are a few Sols running around town now.

Ever get the hypnotised stare? Last summer a couple of times I came out of a 7-11 or Gas station to find someone standing obviously staring at my car, mezmorized by it. I walked up to them and said - "pretty isn't it?" and they jumped right into a conversation about "what is it? , how much?, Pontiac? Really? " that kinda stuff. People notice it, thats for sure.

...but if you ever get tired of teh attention, just don't wash it. that'll take the edge off.

Ditto "king",
I have to admit, that after a "stare encounter" and questions sessions, I just jump in "Patty" and I have to go back to that Caddie slogan I am stealin'... "Ya have ta ask yourself... when you turn your car on... does it return the favor???" then as I am drivin' off, I have to mentally stop and ask..."what is that person thinkin' right now as I drive off???" I just adjust my "PERMAGRIN" :D :D and melt into the sunset... :driving:
