Picked up wife's 07 GXP in Memphis, Tn. this weekend and drove to Raleigh, NC. 700+ miles in a day. Traded in her 06 Solstice NA. Bought from her brothers' small dealership in Tx., they met us in Memphis. This was their only GXP allocation for the year.

Aggressive, 5 speed, loaded except smokers package and OnStar. Chrome rims, rear spoiler.

General info. and thoughts:

Not much dealer markup on these.

Got 30.0 going 80-85 mph in 5th, better than I expected.
Coolant always 194-199.
Boost up to 15 pounds if you jump on it.
Lots more power than the regular Solstice.
Stiffer suspension, liked the mountain roads in this one, did not need brakes downhill.
Fit and finish nice, the stitched silver GXP in the seats and floor mats looks nice.
Glad to have the power door locks in the door panels.

Performance points:

I should note that this is our lowest horse vehicel so I'm not a fair judge on this. The 'normal' Solstice was anemic (IMHO) on horsepower, the GXP is minimally acceptable. To be fair, my daily driver is a trike with a 502 big block so almost anything is underpowered to me. Wife drives a 350 ZZ4 equipped trike at 350 horse so we're used to higher hp vehicles.

That said, the GXP is a really fun driver and not bad on a 700+ mile trip in a day. I've never had a turbo (have had superchargers) so I did not know what to expect. It seems to spool quickly with no lag. Handles curves nice, anyone know the skid pad numbers? We are looking forward to going to the mountains this weekend. The Dragon's Tail is a definite do.

The Fujita CAI and Magnaflow 3 inch cat back came in while we were out getting the car so it's bolt on time this week.

Despite claims to the contrary on the board, I don't see the GXP running below 13.0 (you'll be lucky to see that) in the quarter without better air flow in and out AND a major ECM retune (or getting into the block on cams, etc.). As for some guesses that it will hit 12.0 (without getting into the block), I have some swamp (er, resort) land to sell you. That said, it's not built for a drag car. It's a fun sports driver. I was surprised at the 80-100acceleration, better than I expected.

Bottom line- loaded at $30,400 list with shpg included it's a 'buy'.

Hi Sword,
Saw your post. While those numbers(205-214) aren't strangers they aren't what my car consistently falls back to if I'm not really pushing it. The high 190's to early 200's is where it usually lives in most gears, unless pushed. If I cruise in fifth gear at speeds in the sixties it will sit just above 200 until I downshift bringing it back down below 200 at the same speeds in fourth. I would definately get it looked at, it seems a bit too hot where it is. Good Luck -bird;) Tell us/me how you make out, I've been interested in the subject and have been tracking temps in GXPs.
