silly reviewers

I don't care what the bozos reviewing say, I have had my gorgeous 2007 Sly Solstice since 11 April 2007 and I adore every second I have had with it!:grouphug:

Edmunds must be owned by the Japs.........................Anyone here remember they attacked us about 65 years ago????????????????

If not, buy a Miata

IMHO nearly all of the automotive press has been biased against domestic vehicles for years. Edmunds. Motor Trend. Car and Driver. The list goes on. It doesn't bother me that they are biased. I am an intelligent human being, mechanically inclined, and a relatively skilled and experienced driver, so I have no problem driving different cars from different continents and making my own decision, thank you very much. What bothers me are the hordes of people who take this so-called "moto-journalism" as the gospel truth, mindlessly accepting whatever they see in print and jumping on every opportunity to regurgitate the latest opinion of someone they've never even met.

My classic anecdotal example of this is one of my wife's co-workers. Her favorite line is "I would love to buy an American car, if they could just build one that was reliable." Meanwhile her Honda spends more time in the shop than all of the "unreliable" American cars out in the parking lot every day.

the headrest makes your head lurch forward in an unnatural position? WTF? what car did these guys drive? uncomfortable seats? OMG!

I have to say that I went through all this "second thoughts" process after placing my order for my GXP. Once I got in, heard the turb whine and my but get stuck in the seat, the rest of it doesnt matter. I concur with you who have said "I'll keep my Solstice!". Nuff Said. ;)

Edmunds is completely and totally biased against GMs and domestic cars. They love Japanese cars and cant bring themselves to criticize Japanese cars any more than they can bring themselves to praise domestic cars.

Jimbo, when you said essentially the same thing in a post a while back I didn't buy it. Then I went and counted the number of U.S. cars in their edtitor's picks, and the number of U.S. cars in their consumer's picks. Forget the exact number, but they (the editor's) picked maybe two or three U.S. cars, but the reader's picked from a third to half U.S. cars.

I think you may be right. I'm not a U.S. car guy. I'll drive anything I like - but they don't seem to like U.S. cars very much.

My wife owns a Miata, and I have the Solstice. Both great cars. The Miata's cup holders suck, the trunk is ridiculous, and there is a fair amount of windnoise and engine noise. These problems are not exclusive to the Solstice, they are systemic in roadsters.

All I want is the truth, and I'll decide what to buy.

There are great US cars and there are dogs. There are great Japanese cars and there are dogs. My pickings are slim because I like RWD coupes, and very few are built anymore by any car makers. But my problem with Edmunds and Consumer Reports is, they gloss over the good US cars and cover problems with Japanese cars, so how am I supposed to know which cars are great and which are dogs? I cant use them as a souce.

I have a mild preference for US cars. All things being equal, I would rather own a GM or FORD. But trust me, if Toyota made a car like a Mustang, but gorgeous with IRS and a low price tag, I would be at the Toyota dealership tomorrow.

I just don't love domestic cars enough to disregard an import that suits me perfectly. I'll take the better car every time. But Edmunds and CR are terrible resources, because they generally refuse to help me cull the great US cars from the import dogs. That is not fair.
