As you know, Danny Whitfield was the artist that designed the Diamondback Solstice. I have his first hood scoop installed and it looks fantastic. It looks very similar to the Pitbull Solstice scoop. Check outhis site here to see more pictures: Pontiac Solstice Diamondback Design I decided not to have it made functional, although you can, because it would have required cutting the hood and repainting the entire thing. The scoop is attached using special glue and 8 rivets, which were painted to match the stripes. It really came out great and I absolutely love how it looks. The pictures don't even do it justice. The car looks ready to race! My body shop cut a slit in the rear of the scoop to allow trapped air to escape since it is not functional. Please excuse the fact that my grills are missing...they are getting painted, and the fogs are getting re-tinted and covered with a clear protective film to prevent chipping. Here are the pictures:

What do you think?

Looks like it might be nice, but you're right - pics don't do it justice. Pull your beast out of the garage and wipe it down, then take some even light pics. Then we'll know better. I think I would open a hole in the hood and make it functional if I had it.

Goes good with the paint.

I will definitely post more pics when the weather is nicer and I can pull her out of the garage. The scoop wasn't that bad in price for it being custom designed for our hood. I think around $200.

The scoop looks good. Did you cut a hole in your hood as well or is it just cosmetic? What's going on with your grilles? Looks like there's something in the works there too...

LOL no hole...I didn't want to cut into the hood or else the whole thing would have had to be repainted again...too costly. The grills are getting painted black and the fogs are getting re-tinted and covered with clear protective film.

That looks really nice got me thinking about how to do a cowl induction hood, I think it would not work very well if you cut the hood, you did the right thing. On our cars you want to let air OUT toward the back of the hood not in. I wonder if he could do one that faced the other way, then it could be functional.

Just some larger louvers would get the job done. Something similar to what Gizmo has, but much larger.

Those Danny Whitfield Solstice designs are very cool. I think you have to be careful not to go too far though or you're just making a Cobra copy. I like the side pipes, the fender flares and the hood scoop but I think you have to keep the Solstice grill and front end look to keep it unique.

Love what you have going Spiky. Paint looks great with the stripes going through the scoop. Your stripes look like they are definitely paint not vinyl -- correct?

I think it could look a bit better if you did spend that little bit of cash to mold it into the hood. It looks good where it is. I know I might get flamed on this comment. But if it is just a stick on mod isn't that "rice" ? I have "rice" on my car too. So we are all family:grouphug:

:agree: :agree:

It's a photoshop, but probably my favorite looking solstice of any.

I love the clean look. It still looks like it could come from the factory that way.

I like the way you and I are both working towards something that still looks clean

Spikey, the scoop looks awesome. I'm really interested in the side vents but on the website it says "coming, March 2008" and no pricing information is available. Does anyone know if these are available yet? Maybe I'll email them to find out. Anyway, great addition to your kappa.
