Removal of the shift knob is quite straight forward once you remove a
clip that allows the shift knob to be removed. I have attached some
graphics and a written removal sequence that should help you through the
steps.

if you need pics....send me a message ....i will send you pics

This clip is "copper" colored and is used to connect the shift knob
button to the shifter base pawl actuator mechanisim.

The service sequence should look like:
1. Pull the chrome shifter trim bezel up around the shift knob
2) Unplug the wire harness connector from the bezel
3) Loosen the the knob attachment set screw
4) Remove the retention clip
5) Pull up on knob

A couple things to note:
-A pair of needle-nose pliers works well for pulling the clip, but be
careful not to drop the clip into vehicle once it's removed. It will
need to be reused when the knob/bezel is reassembled to the vehicle.
-The knob is a slight press fit to the lever, so it may take some effort
to remove the knob once the set screw is loosened and the clip is
removed.
--When reassembling the knob/bezel to the shifter, make sure knob is
fully seated beforethe set screw is tightened....if the shift knob isn't
fully seated you could have problems removing the key from the vehicle.
