or open up your key remote and try cleaning it, and sometimes it has to be re-soldered. Watch this vid around the 7:30 mark.

 

I have to admit, that is a solution I have not seen before

I wish I saw this the other day! My key was in the trunk and glovebox locked, had to take the wheel and liner off to pull the emergency release.
