Trunk release

So the other day I was picking someone up. Put all the stuff in the trunk and closed it. Went to start my car….. I closed the trunk with my keys in there. Luckily my glove box was unlocked so I could get them to push the button but what if it was locked? How can I get my keys out then? I was thinking of tying a string to the emergency release and feeding it between the panels to a hidden spot in the cabin unless anyone else has any input.

Many years ago, I loaded up my trunk and shut the trunk with my keys inside. I hadn't unlocked my doors yet. I remembered that there was a removable panel in the rear wheelwell that you can pop out and reach for the emergency trunk release. I couldn't reach it because my bags were in the way. I had to call a tow truck to break in. I must have then hit the switch in the glove box.

You can add a cable release. There is a forum thread where a member described how he made an emergency release cable that runs into the cockpit behind the drivers left shoulder. It should come up in a search.

You can add your own emergency pull rope using twine or available wire.

You can add a push button by tapping into the release cable actuator. Its behind the cockpit in the trunk

Okay, would someone please take a cell phone photo of the glove box open showing the button location and post it? I've looked before and could not find it... thanks!

its the round button top left in the picture below. The glove box is pulled out of the dash to give access to the back side of the button.
