Interested in purchasing a gently used and loved Pontiac Solstice with the Mallett Conversion V8 - LS2 engine.
(The LS7 (427) is too much of a beast - a racing engine in purest form.....)

Black on Black or Tan Interior with manual transmission. Synchronizers in good shape - no grinding or clashing up or down shifting.

Prefer limited slip differential (posi-traction). 30K or less miles on Odo. (a hope).

Wire transfer of funds from our bank to yours.

Northern states location acceptable (salt belt) but not driven much in the snow.
(I am aware about the frame rot that occurs just behind the engine, below the front of dash, at the weld joint)

Buyer (us) will pay for shipping to FFG, Tennessee. Most likely will be Reliable Carriers. They are very careful.

Clean title. No salvage or brandished title is acceptable. No previous accidents. No flood salvage.

Normal 'road rash' as accumulated is acceptable. (minor stone chips/nicks OK)

Looking for maintenance records and receipts from the owner(s). Oil changes, fluid changes, etc.
I do not want a 'Garage Queen' that has not been driven and appreciated by the owner......

You can email me at: lou.oniga@hotmail.com with details. We will also talk on the phone at length.
Thanks,
Lou

Thank you very much for the link! Very clean Saturn!

I also worked on the original Saturn transmissions (auto and manual).

Broke my heart when Pontiac, Saturn, Oldsmobile, got kicked to the curb.

It wasn't long after that so did I!

A Red 2006 Mallett LS2 just went up on BAT (Bring a Trailer) auction site. 1/28/2021

Not the color I had hoped for, but life is short and getting shorter.

I did place a bid on this particular car....wish me luck!

Good Luck Lou, I hope you get it.

Good luck, Lou. I read your comments on the BaT auction.
I’m predicting it will sell in the low 30s. Hope that’s in your range as you obviously really want it and appreciate it. Can’t see the seller letting it go for much less, given that he paid $28,250 for it 18 months ago.

Lou O, the only weak link on these cars is the AR5 transmission when hooked up to the LS2. At least that is my experiance. I bought mine in 2016 with 18,000 miles on it. I have driven it another 18,000 miles so just over 36,000 miles now. The only issues I have had are the syncro's in 3rd gear, I ended up swapping in a Tremec 6060 for both the durability and the extra overdrive.
Also the early cars the cruise control did not work from Mallet I was able to contact the original tuner and John was able to fix the cruise control for me. But then I had to find a local tuner to get it working in 6th gear after the transmission change.

Good Luck again. I do have this car on my registry already.

Thanks for all the positive feed back and support!
I also am concerned about synchro life and durability.
Not everyone knows how to drive a stick, and abuse has a tendency to occur with a lot of horse power.
Do you think the current owner just 'got a good deal' 18 months ago?
I hate to spend more than he did being 2K additional miles and 1.5 years older.
I'm not purchasing as a collector car or garage queen.
I fully intend to drive this car for fun and pleasure, and let Sharon drive her as well :) !
We have 10 nice months of weather here in eastern Tennessee and I'm retired!

Hi Lou. The one for sale right now is the cheapest of the 3 Malletts that have BaT has sold. The other 2 went for $30K and $36K.

But the other 2 both had considerably fewer miles on them. Overall, I’ve seen cars on BaT bringing pretty high dollars over these last few months. People are spending money on toys instead of vacations, perhaps.

As for Value, I think the current owner paid about what the car was worth when he bought it. I paid a bit less for mine in 2016 with 18,000 miles. But I also bought it from the owner directly.
One work of caution if you plan on driving it. Make sure the tires are less than 8 years old. The ones on my cars were 10 years old when I bought it. But they had hardened into hockey pucks. No grip at all. When I replaced them shortly after purchase it transformed the driving experiance. Yes I can still break them loose at will, but they no longer break loose on a 2500 rpm 2 - 3 shift!!!!! My wife spun my car the 1st time she drove it (no damage) with the original tires on it. And she was just making a normal left hand turn! That is no longer an issue.

Good Luck Lou O, I don't care for the added badges on this car but that is easy to correct.

and this 2007 car looks to be a twin to my car, LS2, 5-speed manual, Sly Grey with black leather interior & top.with only 2300 miles listed for $32,000 or make offer. I like the Colors on this one better, but I am Biased!

I just added both 2007 cars to my list. Good day to add 2 cars!

Jeff, Your search skills are honed to perfection! I really like the red one in Colorado!
Going to try to contact them on Monday. Already sent them a email via their system. Looked for a specific add or details and came up empty. Any phone number for this site you may have to share?
Thanks,
Lou

You can go all the way to the bottom of the site page and type in what your looking for. (lower right) This particular red Mallett does not show up. Not sure this site is a reliable car site and updated on a regular basis.

I tried to place an order.....States that offer is not up to date, impossible to place order.....
Oh well..

#21 ·
Yeah I suspected that one was out of date, I 1st found it a few months ago, and I think it said it was about 2 years old then. Car probably sold years ago, sorry.

The only other cars I found were both LS7 cars with with asking prices of over $50K

Sorry that is the best I can do.

As for where the drivers side Cat converter is, on my car it is in the down pipe for the exhaust manifold. And I don't have a picture of its location on my car on my HD.

I just arrived in TX for work so I can not take a picture of it on my car, sorry.

#22 ·
Jeff,
That is fine, no apology necessary. The internet is far from accurate on many things and facts. According to the owner the other pup converter is there, just up a little farther up by the fire wall (front of dash in GM language).
I'm going to bump the bid up today.
Someday you will be retired as well!
Lou

Lost the bid on the red Solstice.....Still looking!

Lou have you thought about making an offer on the SLY Grey on in CA? They would probably take less than the $32,000 list price. It would be a fun drive back home. But you would probably have to put tires on it 1st. Jut a thought.

#25 ·
Jeff,
Sure. I would be interested in taking a look at it! Is that a Slate Grey? Solstice? LS2 or LS3? (I'm not interested in a LS7). If you would be so kind and provide a link that would help greatly! Thanks, Lou

Oops, Sorry, I see the link in # 17 above....Thanks.
I tried to establish some communications link with the person posting the slate grey Solstice.
Hopefully I'll hear back.

Site that handled the vehicle is AutoBidMaster. Not very user friendly. Mostly salvage/wrecked vehicles. At least that is all I could find. It may have been there at one time, but not now.... I'll keep looking. Jeff, you ever consider selling yours?
