They are separable, with great effort; and separation is destructive to the OEM knob.
In case you don't want to destroy the OEM shifter knob, I suggest using DDM's adapter and having an upholstery shop make you a new boot.
I just posted this in the Video of the Day thread. I'm not sure it proves anything other than its possible to drill the manual knob off. What it doesn't show is what you're suppose to do afterwards. Meaning how do you install a new shifter knob?

Interesting. Googling "ICT Schaltknauf" took me to ICT's website where they only offer a knob for the automatic Solstice and Sky (and nothing listed for the Opel GT 😁 ). But the video shows removal of the manual knob? Perhaps they are in the process of adding the manual knob to their portfolio -- the video is only 2 days old.

Did I mention I like the rattle?

Probably just goes back on with friction like it appears to have come off?

I wasn't happy with the job I did on the passenger headlight, so I removed it and started over.

I managed to find a G.M Performance Parts Kappa intake from a guy in Rapid City, S.D.. I got this for (what I thought) was cheap.

I'm not sure if I want to install it, or put it on the side and wait for it to become more desirable. It is in really good shape.

I had one of these in my G5. I can't say whether or not it did anything. It did look better IMO and made the engine sound better. As far as added H.P.; I would be hard pressed to say yes to that. For what I paid for it, it would look nice in a frame on the wall next to the car.

I vote you slap it on and enjoy it brother. You only live once!
Its only true value is in that CARB sticker for folks that live in California.
Many others have noted the benefit (as you noted) is looks and sound. No real HP gains to be expected.
I will warn you to be gentle on the clamps as the thin pipe GM provided collapses pretty easily under torque. At least they did on the GMPP one i have on my GXP.

Doc

Are you coming to NASSAM with that Solstice?

Would be kinda neat to get a photo of your car and my daughter's coupe together...

HAPPY DAY!

The check finally came from the dealership. I got the plates transferred and title registered. The car is finallylegal to drive again!

I definitely need a license plate frame. The one I had on my old car, I got on Amazon and was supposed to be "Stainless Steel" but I think it was Chineseium because rusted right away. While I'm mulling over what I'll get for the frame, I did update the valve stem caps and I ordered some overlays for the emblems (easy peasy type schtoof).

I was reading up on various brake and lug nut upgrades.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the seat angle of the stock lug is? I believe it's 60 degrees, but I'm not completely sure.

I could just pull a lug off and measure it, but I have the ARP lug studs in a folder on my Amazon account (ARP 100-7702) which has the 1.5 metric thread. I may have to run spacers for the Brembo brake upgrade. Before I go ahead and order those, I will have to make 100% certain that is what I'll need.

I'm also toying with the idea of getting another dash and customizing it. Around 2 weeks ago, we were heading home from NASSAM and the sun was glaring off of the chrome bezel around the gauge cluster. I absolutely love the chrome, but the sun reflecting off made it difficult to drive. I'm thinking about:

1). Adding a place to mount my cell phone for GPS / music apps.
2). Adding some sort of a shade over the gauge cluster
3). I definitely need an oil pressure gauge.
4). I happen to have that, and a spare Trans. Temp and Volt gauge waiting in the wings...

Unfortunately, I do not have the gauge overlay to match, but I wasn't 100% happy with it. I was from Black Cat Custom and it was very nice, but I think I should have added a shiny black arch to the bottom aspect of the overlay tobeter match the aftermarket gauges. Maybe if the size of the font was larger it would have been easier to read / looked better. I probably also should have had them put the "MPH" and "RPM" in a larger font. I'm not sure if that would have looked O.K. if the lettering was in the shinier blacked out arch to also match the aftermarket gauges better...🤷‍♂️...not sure.

Anyway, this is where I'm at. I feel I should wait and get everything done and ready to go in/on before I start pulling things apart. I don't want to have to take it apart several times, because it takes me too long to find the time.

The lug nuts are 60 degree, but I think you're confusing the ARP part numbers.

100-7702 Has a 7/16-20 thread (different and slightly smaller than stock.)
100-7720 Has a M12 x 1.5 (same as stock, but sold as sets of 4.)

Both have the same press diameter and both will require trimming or an open ended lug nut.

I thought I would post this up. Just YESTERDAY I ordered some emblem overlays from Reflective Concepts ( <-- hyperlinked) and they are being shipped as of 10 am this morning. That was quick!

Oh...that's really good information. I was reading in some other posts and I muct have gotten the part numbers incorrect.

The overlays should be delivered on Monday

I went to Harbor Freight and bought an oil extractor on Wednesday and tried it out yesterday. I'm not 100% sure how much oil I got out (I have et to get a set of pucks, so I can lift the car). I was NOT able to change out the oil filter. The 32mm socket I have (and used on my G5 - also with the 2.4 litre) would not clear the intake manifold. So, I ordered a new 6 point shorty socket ($7 on Amazon), which will be delivered on Thursday. I also wasn't happy with the way the valve stem caps went on the valve stem.

I used my Dremel and honed out the inside a little bit, so the threads would seat down on the stem a little further. Sorry about the difference in angles in the two shots. On the "Before", a good 5 threads were showing; whereas on the "After" there are around 2. At least these don't stick out too far anymore. they looked a littel rediculous

I was going to clean the Soulstice, but I decided to clean my father's'36 Ford 5-window coupe instead. Back in 2021, my father passed and we have 3 of his cars we need to sell. My mom was planning on selling at least one this summer, but this car is/was the easiest to prep and sell (because the garage was a complete mess (and still is). Instead of cleaning my car, I decided to clean off and wax the Ford. It was kind of filthy.

I had siphoned out the 2 & 1/2 year old (possibly older) fuel and put some racing fuel back in. I'll be changing the oil (the old fashioned way) once the additives come in. If it's not listed for sale this year, it will ge going up for sale late winter, early spring of 2025.

Hmmm...I just noticed I'm going to have to air up the tires for the car on the lift (1973 Grandville Convertible)...

Nice looking cars. Getting your garage back will be another plus

RTE
This is actually my mothers garage. I have most of my projects (as well as all the ones my father left me) over there at the moment.

However, once the 3 cars are sold, we will have a LOT of room in the garage and we will start cleaning out the basement. Minus the frame and a motor, there is literally an entire 1960 Pontiac all disassembled down there. I began to go through some of the boxes and I cam across some engine / lawn mower belts. There were about 80 of them. All but 2 of them were frayed, broken and dry rotted out. The two that weren't had GM Part numbers stamped on them. I saved those 2 and tossed the rest. I also managed to find several T2 and T3 headlights in another box. These are the ones which were original equipment installed on early GM cars.

I labelled these and also labelled the box they are in so someone doesn't throw this stuff away. If you're restoring a 100 point car, these are the items you will need to complete the restoration.
